This totem of interlocking curved blocks is made of sturdy, salvaged ipil hardwood. The term “anito” refers to both the spirits (ancestor, nature) and idol.

Arturo Luz simplified into geometric outlines and curves the indigenous folk image. This is one of the various sculptures Luz created in wood, metal, and concrete—some of which are larger monuments found in public spaces.
