2020
Digitally woven tapestry in cotton and wool, Edition 2 of 3
234 x 138 cm
After La Vendedora de Lanzones is one of six tapestries by Patricia Perez Eustaquio in her exhibition entitled Hoarding Fossils in Blankets (Silverlens, Manila, 2020). Highlighting light and dark shades, she translates Félix Resurrección Hidalgo’s oil painting The Lanzones Seller (1875), which depicts a female fruit vendor balancing a basket laden with lanzones fruit atop her head.
Through a composite of layers and layers of photographic images that are then woven into textile, The Lanzones Seller has found itself “born, or re-born.”
