Nicole Coson’s work engages with visibility and disappearance through experimenting with paradoxical methods and materials to simultaneously evoke a state of entanglement and escape in her viewer.
At the beginning of the pandemic, the artist worked with Venetian blinds to create a series titled Exoskeleton. “Made in anticipation of the day in which we would no longer leave our houses...the day in which our doors were sealed shut and our only way to see the outside was through the glass of our windows,” the artist writes.
Her distinctive analog printing techniques combined with the repetition of everyday objects evoke, a ghostly sense of longing wherein the familiar and the alien intersect and overlap.
