Martha Atienza’s work represents the struggle of fisherfolk in Bantayan Island. As tourism rises in the islands, communities of fisherfolk are relocated to public and private housing projects which results in their loss of access to coastal homes. To address these issues, Atienza, along with the community of fisherfolk, established GOODLand. The organization creates alternative plans to support the islands and its people.
In this work, Atienza calls on the viewer to participate in the act ofremembering our cultural knowledge and being.
