Poklong Anading

Anonymity (set of 7)

2022
seven-channel video (variable duration, loop), no sound, each shown on a 24” wall-mounted flat screen, Edition of 3 + 1 AP

Part of the light, growth, residue exhibit, this work is a series of slow-motion videos of individuals holding a circular mirror to their faces to reflect the sunlight onto Anading’s camera lens. For this particular iteration, he takes on the conditions of the Anthropocene when human activity substantially impacts the planet’s climate and ecosystems.

For context, light in this series of work is seen for its part in the whole cycle of nature. In Anonymity, Anading, through the interdependence of person-mirror-light, explains humans as stewards of nature, and nature as source of identities and that reflective surfaces are not necessarily field for revelation.
